b. Make sure your player supports Microsoft MPEG Layer-3 format. All files are now in that format. Best player I have found outside my default Windows 95 and Netscape 3.0 32-bit players is "Cool Edit". There is a link to it on my page.
You can request file L3CODEC1.ZIP with my request form which was developed by SoundAmerica to update your Win95/WinNt system. Or Download it below:
You will need to install this MPEG Layer-3 codec to play waves compressed with this new compression routine. I installed the package and found that this new format plays the same now as ADPCM did, point and click on both my Windows 95 and Windows NT stations. Cool Edit plays these well now as does Creative Labs Wave Studio (but it will not save the files)
Another program that works great is Windows very own Media Player. Microsoft has the Windows Media Player for Windows 95/98/NT/2k/XP, which is a free upgrade but is well over 5MB in size!
